I was literally starting this thread to let people know - and I know a lot of people used to use it for the Classic - that after three years since it closed down it was reopening under new management after a complete refurb. Well, that is I was until I read the paper today. Turns out the "purchasers" were wanted by the police and already have a four year prison sentence hanging over them for a 600,000€ fraud down on the Cote d'Azur. Apparently there are a lot of red faces, mostly at the town hall who wined and dined the couple and let them run up substantial debts all over the place. And on a serious note, looking at the place and how much is needed to bring it up to current norms, I doubt it'll ever reopen. Ah well.

Such a shame as the last owners were so good. We had stayed there since the eighties and loved the place, although the middle owners didn't have a bloody clue.

It made the papers last year when the refurbishment was announced.
Shame really the bar restaurant next door is busy lunch time but Chateau du Loir lacks restaurants compared to Le Lude or further afield La Flèche.
