Yet another speedo thread (yawn...)
Discussion
The speedo (and odo) on my Chim stopped working intermittently then eventually packed it in altogether. Got a new sensor fitted and thought all was OK until I noticed that it's reading WAY too high. The error seems to multiply the faster I go. Now this is OK for keeping within 30 / 40 mph speed limits, but I now have to remember to sit at 90 when passing cameras (not that I'd zoom past them otherwise you understand...). It's a real pain in the @rse having to rely on the rev counter or other drivers to know how fast I'm going. The folks at V8 tell me it's not the new sensor but the speedo head that needs replacing. Anyone had this problem and know how much it will cost to put right?
I think you'll find that ETB were the suppliers of the early instruments. TVR had so many problems with them they were desourced. I'm not sure when they changed but they are kept busy on repairs still! Yeh, I think repairs are expensive too.
I have the opposite problem - reading too low (dangerous!). I am going to try a sensor wheel with more teeth to see if it helps. What diff ratio is yours?
