Anyone know what they've done to Daytona Prototypes this year to equalise their performance with the naturally faster LMP2 cars this season?
Just had a look at the Daytona 24 grid and the DP's have blitzed it. Despite a late restrictor restriction, the pole sitting DP is 1.5s ahead of the best (Muscle Milk) P2 and 3.5s faster than the next one. Even the DeltaWing and PC (LMPC? FLM?) cars are faster than the P2 runners.
Obviously there is no frame of reference for P2's running at Daytona, but this year's DP pole seems to be over 2s quicker than last year...

I believe it's the normal air restrictor changes to try and balance the performance. Obviously very difficult with the differences between DP and P2 cars, but hopefully they'll get it right. ESM had engine problems so their P2's were well down on speed. The DP's are starting to grown on me, they've developed into much nicer looking cars than the original iterations. The P2 cars were closer in 3rd practice.
There's another issue with the GTD's and PC cars, the GTD's being about 10mph faster than the PC cars according to some reports on Twitter. That can't be good for longevity through the race traffic.
Should be a good race, just a shame the TV and radio media options are so poor this year, inexcusable really.

ELMS is actually quite good. The PC class can be quite fun and I'm hoping that will transfer to TUSC, although there may be a bit of the original P2 about them at Daytona, if you're still running at the end, you've won.
