Just had a phone call from my Mum back home 'up North'... saying that tomorrow night young Nickolai is coming to town with "the latest TVR".

Not believing it for a minute, I did some digging - and it seems that TVR are indeed coming to town.
Town though being Barrow-in-Furness, on the North West coast. Not far from Blackpool granted - but why THERE..!?

The TVR dealer in Barrow closed when I was a kid... (Does anyone remember Dave Haughin? Some Wedge owner's likely have one of his modded cars sat outside at the moment. Anyone got a 350 SX with a Sprintex supercharger for example?).

It seems that there's a talk entitled "Building the TVR car" being given by Neil Anderson from the factory tomorrow (17th Nov). The local paper intimates that Nickolai is going to be there too, with "the latest TVR".
???????

Ever since the shipyard dumped circa 7,000 jobs in the late 80's / early 90's there's been no £££££ sloshing about the place - so it's certinly NOT the place to swell Smolenski's order books.

Is this 'event' touring the country then, or has Barrow been singled out for something special?

Completely mystified!

This is the new TVR Atlantic powerboat! The boat will be built in your town. It will be powered by 4 V8 engines.

Seems and odd choice. 50% of the town must work for BAe and it isn't the place you would pass through.
Maybe NS lives there and wants an early dart??

The talk is definitely entitled "Building the TVR car". If it was to do with the boat, then that does not make sense surely?

PS: It's not my town... I left it when they stopped building big fk off nuclear submarines!

Might be similar to the talk Neill gave at Loughborough University a few weeks back. Worth going if you can.

Fair point but it's hardly in Vanguard's league...

It's something that Neill does as a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He gives a series of lectures in his spare time, they are quite good, especially for us TVR anoraks! I doubt that he'll be accompanied though, probably just the usual gig groupies!!

He did one in Essex at the Ford Centre....and bought along a TVR then....Saggy I think....can't remember....getting old!!!

He was interesting, very frank and open about the new changes at TVR.

Neil flew down to Stanstead and borrowed a silver T350 from Castles for the evening...

Close, but no cigar, Pauline.

FFG, I don't think our National Security is much at threat.

Do you remember that Canadian submarine that broke down in the Atlantic recently? No prizes for guessing which shipyard she had just left, after years being refitted!
This also being the same shipyard that inadvertently built a banana shaped submarine a few years back.
