Hi! I lurk here a lot but rarely post, I figure this is the place to come for an answer to my question.

I just spotted this van parked on a main route through Rugby. Unfortunately I really didn't have time to do more than take these pictures.







"Warwickshire Police - Cameras in operation - reducing crime and disorder"

It looks to me like a Talivan? I thought they had to be clearly and visibly marked? Or is it ANPR?

Just curious... And no, I wasn't speeding!

It is a van the west midlands use to check car tax. The cameras read yr reg and run it through a computer. They then radio ahead to a waiting patrol if there are any problems, such as listed stolen or no tax. They dont worry about speed.

But even so talivans are usually marked in tiny letters thus making their cash generation exercise so much more effective - which they will of course deny...
