We have just purchased a Blackbird powered MK Indy and are having some problems with the noise levels at track days.

We have two silencers currently. The straight through pipe is giving about 115db and the quieter one is giving around 105-108db (1/2 meter at 5600 rpm)

I was wondering if anyone has experience of using a Supertrapp Disk Only series. I have been recommended a 4" diffuser and will bolt this onto the quieter silencer. I’m hoping this will get us well under the 100db level using similar measuring as described above.

Any thoughts or experiences welcomed

cheers

No supertrapp experience im afraid, but can you not run a normal bike silencer? in standard form they normally have no probs with getting bikes thro 100db days.

My experience of supertrapps is not good - it dropped the dB level by about 1 dB. I would imagine you need a different silencer.
The other thing you can do is to get a racing license and then do test days - some are unlimited noise, some like Snetterton are about 120dB and even the quiet places are 108dB.
