I need a VAT receipt for an expenses claim from work, there is an ASDA on the way home but it's pay at pump only, there is no kiosk. Does it give a VAT receipt? I won't find out first hand until it's too late! A quick google doesn't say anything definitive, and it's mainly info that's years old.

I know Tesco ones do, so can only assume Asda ones do too.

If that helps

Isle of Dogs does if the button is pressed. And it has paper in.

If it doesn't, go into the store and demand one.

My last job, would accept proof of payment, for expences (ie a copy of the credit card bill) but knew they couldn't claim back the Vat. Although they would be a bit grumpy about it.
They never bothered too much about "miscellaneous" though, so I guess they have no perspective in accounts.

The asda petrol station that I use has the same set up as you describe and you can definitely get a vat receipt from the pumps. That said, I don't work for asda so could not guarantee that the other 159 filling stations all offer the same service or use the same type of pump etc, etc...

They do but they never have any bloody paper in them and when they do the paper is like tracing paper style and the ink rubs off whilst it's nestled in your wallet.

You can claim the VAT without one.

And pay it back if you are lucky enough to be picked for a VAT visit.

If you were VAT registered and had a receipt for petrol you wouldn't have to pay the VAT back.

Either way, the Vat on a tank of fuel is trivial compared to the Fuel duty.
