Why does this song never get any radio play?

I hear it now and again on Radio 2 during the day. Being slightly longer than your average Pop song probably doesn't help.

Holy flashback Batman; I gave a girl this picture disc for her birthday back then http://www.discogs.com/marketplace?release_id=2242...

Only cost, I think, about a £1 max then. I hope she kept it, as the value seems to be going in the right direction.

I was at the Mike & The Mechanics gig in Perth last night.

It was epic!

I was concerned how they would sound without Paul Carrack as his voice is very unique IMO but his replacements. Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar are excellent. They complement each other well and both have amazing range.

The gig had all the Mechanics' hits, also some Genesis numbers, a wee bit Hendrix and I even got to see Roachford performing Cuddly Toy live biggrin

If you can catch them I would thoroughly recommend it.

I love Silent Running.
Sadly missed though is Paul Young and this MATM track.

Why no radio play of 90% of music out there? Why do we have the same old 10% on permanent replay?

Probably because the general public have no imagination whatsoever, or is there more to it than that?

Take Simon Mayos request bit he does on Friday, the same old, same old crap gets requested every week. Is that lots of people who are actually phoning in with this, or are the Beeb just cherry picking from the requests what they think is popular and we want to hear?

As a possible answer I seem to remember Chris Moyles pulling out some good, but lesser played stuff on occasion (was it on Friday mornings?), there was nothing but praise for it by the public so why not play more?
(You could argue he was cherry picking the comments!)

As a hater of tat and repetitiveness (commercials) and of a certain age I'm stuck with R2, but just have to switch it off periodically as they seem to have no imagination whatsoever.

I want to hear Sigue Sigue Sputnik, T'Pau, Stone Roses, Seahorses and all the stuff that was great back in the day, not this middle-of-the-road wk you bore us with!

Meh, sadly my listening equipment is as out of date as my taste, I will look into it and maybe listen online though, thanks for the pointer.
