I know there was a brilliant thread on here full of recipes for them, but I can't seem to find it. Can someone link it for me please?

Sadly not. I'm starting to think it wasn't a dedicated thread. I seem to remember the best recipe included someone using ribs from Waitrose.

I'm doing ribs now - keeping it simple though. Orange juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, bbq saue from a bottle marinade for most of the day, they're now in the oven for 3 hours at 175 degrees. Then they'll be finished off on the bbq. My plan fell apart though when I realised I bought the wrong sugar - who puts white sugar in brown bags, next to the white sugar in white bags redface

I wasn't sure whether to use no sugar, or white sugar - went with white in the end laugh

Large pan, fill with water, a carton of apple juice, and a carton of pineapple juice. Put a rack or three in there, cook at the lowest possible heat for 2-3 hours.

Remove the racks carefully (if they're not nearly falling apart, they're not done enough). Baste with a good sweet smokey sauce (eg Bullseye). Do in the oven (or BBQ) at a low heat for 30 mins or so so as to caramelise the sauce. Apply more sauce during the cook frequently.

Best Ribs that I have ever done are as follows:
To each 4lb of ribs mix the following.

Marinade for the slow cooker.
Tomato Ketchup 2 Cups
Brown Sugar 1/2 Cup
Lea & Perrins 2Tbsp
Hot Sauce a couple of dashes
Oregano 2 Tbsp
Chilli Sauce 1 Cup
Vinegar 4 Tbsp

If you like them hot hot then add some more hot sauce, but as they are in a slow cooker this is normally plenty of liquid.

Turn the oven onto around 180c season the ribs, then put them on a tray for 10 mins each side to brown, drain off the fat/juices.

Add them to the marinade and place in a slow cooker for 5 - 7 hrs until done.

This is a really simple dish and so easy to prepare, then just leave until ready to eat falling off the bone, they are delicious.

For the best ribs ever you need a smoker.

You lot aren't using plain old brown sugar are you? Muscavado is the boy you need.

Yeah and I'm a racing snake relatively , but you're correct with your recipe , brush frequently on the bbq to avoid sauce from blackening
