Hi all
has anybody done the 6 speed light conversion them selves. It looks pretty straight forward except the painting. On ebay there are the fibreglass moulds being sold so assuming you can just buy the 90mm headlights to go in the surround then surely its just plop it in the hole where the old lights were then fill around the edge then let a spray shop blend it in.
Just wondered if anybody has done this as I'd like to do it but always good to hear from wiser heads.
Also guys who have this done what lights are what for instance- all 4 lights are dipped beam and main beam or maybe top two are main beam only. If you catch my drift

Hi,

I have a pair of these pods for sale PM for details. The fit is relatively straight forward with a bit of fettling and finessing, I also have a link where TVR paint can be purchased including spray cans.

+1 suits the Cerb but the Chim looks bloody horrible with this conversion. Lupo lights are much better IMHO!

I would put the VW Lupo light conversion ahead of the Speed Six style. The Speed Six suits the Tuscan and the Cerb but I dont think it looks right on the Chimaera.

I have lupos fitted and are very happy with them, but the current new mod by steve edwards of the lupo which is faired in looks the dogs danglies !!.The only thing extra he could do is to make the shroud body colour rather than black, but that's my personnel choice . ? smile

nono there are at least four different conversions I know of and admit some don't look quite right. But if you go for what is called the 'speed six' conversion which is two main lights and one side light it looks just right [well, I would say that]. More of a factory look upgrade IYSWIM. Some like, some don't, whatever suits you is what I say. I just wanted to lose the MGB face.
They definately look wrong on a Griff for instance.

Have to agree, the speed 6 conversion with the 2 main and side light looks the best of that particular conversion, which has a few options as Mac has pointed out. It doesn't look cluttered and suits the Chimaera front lines.

Mine has the 'Type R' conversion done, which luckily I like, as the front end no longer bares any resemblance at all to an MG, which is a very good thing wink

My dad did a DIY job on his Cerb, which for one reason or another involved chopping a bit of the original light surrounds out IIRC...... He got someone else to paint it though.

Speed Six conversion - a lot depends on whether you have crap reflectors and are due for a front end respray, like my car.
if you need both, and like the look, there's a lot to be said for Central TVR's offering.

£1150 plus VAT seems good value to me

Right you barstewards will you stop going on about the MGB. I have had a few B's and still have one (in storage for past three years). She's a lovely old thing, all original '72 Roadster with Overdrive and tax exempt, and it's very unfair to suggest that it's not good looking grumpy

Oh, and, er, I had my Mk3 stylee headlights done by Sportmotive. And it wasn't because I thought it looked like an MGB. Which it didn't. And even if it had that would of been OK. But it didn't anyway. So back off with the MGB comments. It's not nice.

Right. That's settled then.

Chilli smile

Agreed they are not full frontals, but both the Mark 3 and the Speed Six are on the same page of the Central TVR website

Here ya go, for me it matches the already 'frenched' in indicators and air in take below. thumbup
No MGB here!
[some conversions have the lights too far forward and so make it look a little awkward, as I said there are a few options on same mod']

NO! It looks nothing like an MGB. It doesn't drive anything like an MGB. It sounds nothing like an MGB. I keep kidding myself that I've kept the B so's when I'm too old and decrepit to drive beastie I'll still have a nice old classic to tootle round the country lanes in, nice and gentle, nice noise, polish it on Sundays, join the MGOC again, buy a flat cap and some string back gloves.... go to MGB meetings where you get crucified if you've got an ally rocker cover and a sports exhaust......

Sorry, prattled on a bit there getmecoat
