What level of water in the swirl pot ??

Had to replace the top hose and there is no mark on the swirl pot. What level should the water be at.

Its a '94 500.

Swirl pot - top it right up.

Reservoir about four inches from the top.

Where is the reservoir then?

Isn't the long silver thing with the cap where you fill it just the swirl pot. Are you saying that they are the same thing or is there somewhere else I need to fill?

The swirl pot is above the distributor and should be full to the brim.

The expansion coolant resovoir is what you should top and check up regularly... best leave a griff owner to tell you exactly where.

I keep mine about half full.

Incitendally, if you've taken the top off the swirl pot beware of airlocks.

Pre serpentine 500 doesnt have an expansion tank and only has the swirl tank. Fill to about 2" below the top of the tank. You will proabably need to bleed the system through after filling and then top it up again.

I was getting worried before your post.

It is a pre-Serp so thankfully I haven't lost a reservoir !!

Oops - sorry. Hadn't considered the pre-serp variant.

As you've discussed the pre-cat & pre-serp 500 don't have expansion tanks, which means the only air expansion area is within the swirl pot, they tend to find there own level which may be around 3" below filler, if you over fill it will just leave a puddle on the garage floor.

I managed with a flexi hose for the time being, but if it doesn't work I'll be in touch for the doglegged part we discussed yesterday.
