mk2 fiesta pop+
Discussion
been lurking here for a while so i thought i'd post up my fiesta. I know its nothing spectacular but insurance is tough being 18.
I bought it last February for £800 on ebay, thats £200 cheaper than my offer when i went to view the car so that was a win. The previous owner was obviously lacking in taste judging by the dodgy Wolfrace alloys and tinted windows, but aside from that it was a solid little car.
as i bought it

first things first, off with the wheels! It had also had an inner sill repair some time in the past. The outer sills had been cut to gain access and plated over badly so i cut the rear sections of the outer sill off and replaced them, which also resulted in a rear 1/4 respray.

It came up lovely after a good wash and a mop, tints were still annoying me so they were next on the list to be removed, along with the universal mudflaps.

Raided the garage for some spots and stuck them on, i'm a right sucker for a set of spots. Got the chance of a set of RS turbo recaros so obviously i had to buy them.

and i think thats about it for now. I've had my fun over the last year with it and it'll be replaced by my Audi 80 in March. I think i'll miss the attention from it, especially the middle aged blokes in the petrol station asking if its an XR2.
so yeah, nothing interesting!

Yeah me and my dad restore classic cars so I've always been around old motors, it was only natural that I had to have one or two!
I have a few pics of the 80 on my PC (at work at the moment) which I'll post up later, though it looks a bit rough and awaiting its respray and new wheels

You're a breath of fresh air. The forum is having one of those periods dominated by pushbikes, finance and old grudges (guilty) .
Don't be put off, most is banter. You will find the majority of people/old farts here would much rather read a thread about someone's passion and constraints than the latest thing they've walked into a showroom and purchased which is considerably faster than everyone else's.
We all started out like you and if we look back these were fantastic times.
Still interested in the 80

^^^^^^^^. Spot on. And a great thread from a newbie; just the sort of new blood we need amongst us old farts. Bring on the 80!Don't be put off, most is banter. wow i never thought a little old 1.1 fiesta would create such a reaction on here, thank you all for the kind words
the fiesta went for its MOT last week and flew through, not a single advisory which is nice for a 25 year old motor.

Now onto the Audi. I'll start with a bit of a story which i have to tell every time someone asks why the hell i wanted an Audi 80.
My dad owned a few when i was little and i always liked them, plus i know how good they hold up when someone decides to drive an escort into the side of one at 60mph. The only thing i don't like about the fiesta is that it isn't the safest of cars, something which is always on my mind when driving about with the girlfriend or other people in the car.
my dad walked away unscathed from this one thankfully

now my 80, its a 1.8S b3

it's getting treated to a full respray as it looks like its been washed with a scotch pad in the past and a set of Audi Speedline alloys when i find some. Should be a nice comfy cruiser when its done!

On the fiesta I'm paying a little over £1000 with one years no claims, the Audi is £200 extra in March when I'm 19. Not cheap but not too bad either considering my age.
I just have a standard policy, nearly all classic insurers won't touch people under 21 and I wouldn't build up my no claims with a classic policy
