PC game with great story required
Discussion
Need some advice on a new game/series of games. I massively enjoyed the Mass Effect series, even managed to not get totally hacked off with the ending, and whilst waiting for ME 4 and after a similarly strong story on a PC Game. Does not have to be sci-fi but a game where you really can involve yourself/care for the characters.
Previously also been a fan of Deus Ex, both old and new.
Any ideas??

FarCry 3 is story based though is action rather than sci-fi / horrorPreviously also been a fan of Deus Ex, both old and new.

Dead Space 3 is very good also - but only really lasts for 2 playthroughs IMHO
Something that's just been released, Banner Saga looks worth a look if you like RPGs (it's a turn-based tactical RPG). I've not played it but have watched a little, story seems to be particularly strong. Developed by Stoic which was founded partly by some ex-Bioware people.

If you like mass effect you should check out dragon age.
A number of recommendations:Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - if you loved Mass Effect, then you'll love KOTOR, even if you dislike Star Wars (like myself). It casts a shadow over Mass Effect with the sheer amount of influences. Even if that includes Bioware's inability to develop a simple to use inventory system.
Planescape Torment - widely regarded as one of the finest storytelling RPGs ever developed; even if it wasn't originally a commercial success.
The Longest Journey and the sequel Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - adventure games with wonderful storytelling and memorable characters.
Sadly, except KOTOR, I have yet to play the others because Xbox aside, I am a fully paid up member of the Jobsian cult i.e. iOS and OSX. Note: Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is available via Xbox, so I will have to pick it up at some stage.
If you really really liked Mass Effect series then i assume you are not after the main stream crappy recycled games that have come out recently.. If so here are my picks which have;
++Good storyline and immersiveness
++Good AAA graphcis
++Good gameplay and depth to keep you invovled
MassEffect
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Witcher 2
Skyrim
Dragon Age Origins
I personally am awaiting potentially THE BEST MMORPG - Elder Scrolls Online.. I really didnt pay much attention at first as i thought it would be a massive fail by looking at the early videos, but after playing the BETA, im SOLD !

Skyrim and Fallout 3 as mentioned are the ones which will have the longevity and are pretty epic in terms of how much time you can spend doing things that are fun yet don't progress the story line (in a good way).
Not exactly in the same theme as ME but what about the Walking Dead series? Not played them myself but they look to have a strong story element.
