Evening chaps

Can someone educate me regarding the early Griffiths the one with the cortina rear lights? Once I've finished my Tamora project I want to build a stripped out Ls3 V8 powered Griffith track car starting in 2015.I don't know much about the early TVR cars. What dos and don'ts when buying a car or is it just as easy to buy an M car?Anyway any info or direction would great.

If you stick an LS in an M3000 it's not a Griffith is it? confused

As you are clearly into track cars with power etc if you could find one an old griff 400 with a LS 3. That has 450hp and 400 torque with such a short wheel base ,60s chassis etc etc would not come close to matching that you all ready have. So as you are in to t cars and top at racing etc fit the LS into cars with great success I would say use a t chassis with full roll frame brakes etc fit you're LS and turn it in to a look a like car by bolting on an old m/Tamara body like the race car on this forum . Or just build a LS powered t car for track use.

would it be hard to make say a Griffith body (Griffith= 3900mm & 2286mm)
to match such T-chassis (Tamora= 3925mm & 2361mm or T350= 3925mm & 2361mm)

or would it be also good to say, buy a cheap Griffith with say bad/rot chassis, and put a stronger chassis on it like for example that new Evolution (Sportmotive) chassis ready to exept such LS3.

I'm not about to tell you how to spend your money but why?? Do you know how much a Griffith 400 chassis plate will cost you, let alone a basket case? Rather more than your Tamora, I suspect.

If you want big grunt just put a big SBF in it, like Jelli has. At least you will retain some value, with an LS3 it'll be worth very little. As Neil says what could you run it in. If you have to have the early style build a later car with an LS3 and put an early body on it. You can source a bodyshell easily and an M.

If you want a good return on investment AND lots of fun against similar cars build or buy an FIA car. There are several available at the moment from £70k upwards. Almost as much power as an LS3 and then you can prove how quick you are against Messrs Shipman, McInerney and Whitaker.

Not to race with it, so not FIA proof, so then you won’t need the expensive say Griffith 400 plate etc.
Also not for to win some money to sell the car, but for own pleasure, I was thinking out loud angel

some say those modern chassis with longer wheelbase are way better? faster? round a track so I guess somewhat easier
to drive on limits or with a lot power because of the longer wheelbase and better set-up??

So it does not have to be original, I was thinking, the ‘best’ sort chassis with the nicest body shape(ish)

for exampel I like the Grantura mk3/Griff 200 looks, but also some wide body racers from TVR ala Tuscan/Griff,
also some M series the rear (front not so)

I like the classic looks, but with more modern set-up ala wheels (although of course classic style) so bigger and
good suspension and brakes etc.
I also like the classic look interior, although with good seats and a roof on top but without the softtop’window’ Emoticon met brede lach

again, just thinking out loud, say making some modern Griffith 200...a bit longer wheelbase and doors, bigger wheels
with lower tires and bigger brakes etc, also a sort of connected flow outlet in the bonnet from the air/radiator so it acts
also a bity like a ‘spoiler’ but all nicely integrated in the style of the car.

Sadly i’m not a car drawer otherwise I could show what I mean, but I would be happy also with something like this,

Yep as I Said expensive I personally wouldn't pay £60k for another outdated plastic death trap....it would need the relevant safety features, Such as side impact / safety cell etc not too bothered about anti lock brakes and the like but if they want to attract a new breed of customers it needs to have all the safety bells and whistles....and I just don't think they've got the financial backing to take that 1st step....hence it'll be selling product to the die hard TVR Clan which spells the beginning of the end for me....I hope I'm wrong ...the cars if they do produce them will be out of my price range for a long time. A basic brand new unregistered Porsche 911 in my local Porsche dealership this afternoon was a Carrera @ £65,750 bargain! Lol
