Bit of a pub argument this one.

This is my entry for the most bland car of the last 20 years (1994>)

I thought the citreon xantia was pretty interesting personally! Especially with its funky suspension.

Bland for me would be something jap, like a Toyota Camery

Nope. Add Activa and it becomes a whole lot more interesting.

I'm not a Vauxhall fan at all but always thought that shape Vectra looked quite sharp, big improvement on what came before and I like the wing mirror styling. They were also raced in the touring cars. I can't have them as the most bland car of the last 20 years.

The Ford Escort would be my worst car. It ranks with the horrible Korean and Japanese models of yesteryear, like the Nissan Bluebird. Remember that? It's a bit older than the time limit allows, but there must be some horrors from the east.

They've raced all sorts in touring cars, that in itself doesn't make a car interesting. Bland to me is just average in every conceivable way. It looks "alright", it goes "alright", the fuel economy is "alright", it does nothing in an outstanding fashion. Or even well. It's not a car that you're going to get passionate about, either by how good or bad it is.

Some of the other cars here are interesting by virtue of being so appalling.

I agree with that. The wing mirrors were a very nice touch and quite distinctive.


For the most bland, I'd say any VW Golf or Skoda Octavia. Fit for purpose by all means, but very bland in my opinion.

Most cars are fairly bland, to the extent that is is far easier to name cars which are not bland.

Actually, I reckon the Xantia is one of the more interesting cars out there.

Bland box design and nothing more than (very) basic transport

My OH has an A4 and although it is a reasonable car in many ways I absolutely find it dull in every aspect.

I had an avensis (late 90's) I picked up at audition as a run about. Absolutely bomb proof (bar the fuel tank) but so dull it hurt!! Awash with grey plastic and had no redeeming features at all

Either this or the Daewoo Nexia.

A car so bland and uninspiring that even with a fair bit of time driving one when i was younger i cannot remember anything about it.
