That's it really. I'm thinking of getting one put in at my office to give me a top-up during the day, but I think from my investigations that you can only get a grant if the EVSE & the parking space are available for free to the public, which certainly isn't the case - it's my space, and woe betide anyone else who parks in it!

Anyone know better/different?

I could have got a grant via plugged in midlands. However it only covers 40% and the costs are >£2k. I'm going with an outside 3 pin plug for circa £50.

could one not get another box from chargemaster fitted to (for example) their mom and dads house for free as per the normal channels and just get a sparky to relocate it to work, that way it'd only cost you £100 or so.
I've not dissected the TOBs so don't know if it is specifically verboten to change the location of the box.

I must admit to having considered the above for my new office build....

Just stopped being so lazy and had a look, terms as per below, i can't see anything that would stop you relocating it, what thinks you lot?:


By submitting your application form you acknowledge acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Data collected from the Homecharge-i unit in respect of electricity usage, including timing and duration of charging sessions of the Homecharge-i unit, will be shared with agreed Recipients. These Recipients are the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and ChargemasterPlc and any other body that requires this information in respect of the supply of a grant in respect of supporting the supply to you of the Homecharge-i (the Recipients).
The usage of the equipment supplied is restricted to charging electric cars and Chargemaster reserves the right to disable or remove the unit in the event of any abuse or misuse of the equipment.
By submitting the application form is declaration you confirm that the address specified on the application form1 is a residential address and that you either own the property or have the consent from the landlord for the Homecharge-i unit to be installed. You also confirm that there is garage or other suitable off street parking within your premises
You will be provided with a free survey following acceptance of your application and in the event that your domestic or garage wiring needs upgrade or improvement you will be given the choice of withdrawing your application or paying for remedial work as specified by the installation contractor
The information on this form will be used by the installation contractor to carry out the survey and installation.
You agree to indemnify ChargemasterPlc and the installation contractor against any claim (including consequential losses) arising from the installation and use of the Homecharge-i unit.
By submitting the application form you also confirm that you give ChargemasterPlc permission to apply for the government domestic recharging grant on your behalf and that you may be contacted in the future by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) or its agents to conduct a random check
Your personal information will be safeguarded and processed in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and that your details will only be passed to OLEV or its agents if yourchargepoint is chosen for a random check.
You also confirm that you understand that receipt of the grant is on the undertaking that usage data is collected from the unit for a minimum of three years from the date of installation.
10. You give permission for the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and other central government departments and Chargemaster to use this usage data (in an anonymised form) to inform future policy development.

11. You declare that you are not VAT registered, are claiming this chargepoint as a private individual, and will not claim the VAT back from HMRC.

12. Applications are subject to acceptance by ChargemasterPlc and this offer may be withdrawn at any time prior to installation of the Homecharge-i unit in your home at the absolute discretion of ChargemasterPlc .

13. Upon installation ownership of the Homecharge-i unit becomes yours, subject to these Terms and Conditions. In the event the Terms and Condition are breached by you, ChargemasterPlcreserves the right to remove the unit or disable it.

14. Should your application be successful you will be contacted by the installation provider to arrange a convenient date for a survey and subsequent installation. In the event your application is not successful you will be contacted to explain why.

15. As part of the free Homecharge i offer you will be offered an access card to the POLAR public recharging network and you agree to meet the terms and conditions published from time to time in respect of operation of these network and POLAR roaming partners. This access card may be recalled or disabled at any time by ChargemasterPlc at its absolute discretion. In any event the card issued will not be valid for use after March 31st, 2014

16. These terms and condition are governed by the laws of England and Wales and as determined by the courts of England and Wales

Update. Looks like I can get a grant from the city council and plugged in midlands to cover 90% of the cost.

Didn't know I could get one from the city council, I've got one form Plugged in midlands but that only covers 40%....
