So, I emailed Splutterfrock because I found that Saga had one of my pictures on their travel web site.
On both occasions that I got a (prompt) reply from Stuttersock the lady put "I understand your concern"...
Do you? I think it's bloody outrageous that a commercial web site can purchase an image off Shuddercock and pay a mere 25c for it, and not even have to credit the taker of the photo.
Time to pull the plug on them, me thinks...

I used to own an equestrian business. Horse and Hound magazine featured a business advertising arena footing, with pictures of my indoor arena used as an example testimonial. The photos were stolen from my business website. I'm based in BC, Canada, the arena footing business was in greater London, so I assume they thought they'd get away with it and nobody would notice. They didn't consider an ex-pat might read the Horse and Hound, or that the ex-pat's friends in the UK that read the magazine might wonder why a business thousands of miles away was being used as a reference.
I complained to the magazine and to the advertiser. Received a printed apology for the misleading nature of the featured ad and a small amount of compensation.

When you upload photos to a photo library, do you get a chance to set prices? Or do you upload knowing that others can buy usage for 25c? Seems to me it's their arena and if you don't like the deal on offer, don't go there.Fezant Pluckah said:

You'd need to sell 160,000 a year
I've been submitting a modest number of images to microstock libraries over the 6 years. Now have around 500 images in each. During that time I've had around 18,000 sales and $13,000 of income. Although the average income/sale is less than $1.00, the total number of sales makes it (to me), reasonably worthwhile. To make it more palatable, I just look at the "bottom line", not individual sales. It's decent pocket money!
