Washer Wiper Intermittent and Mod Cons

Partly caused by Nigels washer motor thread……but I am contemplating an upgrade.

Is there an easy way to get intermittent wipers?

Whats the best washer on blade set? or are fan washers on the body better?

i've had my eye on this for a while and been thinking of treating myself. Mostly for the MG (dash panel switch so even more inconvenient), but I think it would work on the TVR too

I've got intermittent as OEM fit. Don't have an issue with the washer spray personally and I've fitted different wipers (flex blade like on modern cars) which are fractionally better on the screen curvature than the old style blades.

Isn't an intermittent wiper mod just a case of adding the correct relay? Some relays even allow you to control the delay.

I must admit it was only fairly recently that I saw people using Camelback bags hung up inside wheel arches.

I think some of the later cars had this I have replaced the switchgear and have the down position available. I also have a wired relay holder under dash so think I am just missing the relay but not sure what I need. Hmm off to google..

My understanding of "dry weather" is when it stops raining and gets really cold so the road turns to sheet ice and you use your TVR for its secondary usage of hedge/verge trimming

I am getting the feeling that
1. there is already a pull-down single wipe facility on the stalk
2. I have bought a different stalk with the stay down detent.
3. If the wiring connects up, I should just be able to fit a cycle timer on the pull-down circuit that emulates pulling the stalk down every 10 seconds or so? with a 0.5 second on, 10 second off cycle…or similar

When I have a bit of free time, I will have a play :-)

What can go wrong?

I had the same issue several years ago. The light switch part of the stalk failed on my S2 and I replaced it with a new stalk. However, the new stalk didn't have the pull down single wipe facility on the windscreen wipers as you mention. I couldn't find a direct replacement.

In the end I bought an intermittent wipe relay from ford a bit like this one (I think mine was from a ford transit):

and wired it in using some info I found on the web - I can PM you a copy of the wiring diagram. It wasn't very difficult but it may involve you finding additional terminals for the missing ones on the multi-connector in the loom that plugs onto the stalk.
