Just pondering...

I'm moving over to the Republic of Ireland at the end of this week into a very rural location. Through my company I will be sitting on the end of a 1MB satellite connection through Ameriska http//www.ameriska.com

Now, I'm thinking about selling off some of this bandwidth to the locals, essentially by putting in a community wireless LAN to anyone interested in beating the 56K modem rate that is the only other option in the area.

Anyone got any thougts on this - I hear that many ISPs are operating a 16:1 contention ratio and am wondering at the feasibillity of setting something up.

I'm very conversant with Cisco kit and would have no problem with setting up an Access Point and writing some noddy code to do RADIUS Authorisation and Accounting and potetnitally bringing a few extra Euros each month.

Any thoughts from the PH massive?
