As per the title, has anyone replaced indicator grilles on an early Chimaera? Mine is a '94 car and I've just ordered a set of new front indicator grilles from Obsolete TVR.

I will try and get some pictures later but someone has previously bonded the grilles to the body, sprayed the entire front section body colour (Macau yellow), including the grilles and then hand painted the grilles black. Not completely noticable but is just something minor that irritates me.

How are the original grilles held in place and what is the best place to work from? I'm guessing remove the front wheels would be easiest for access and work from there?

Any tips or advice appreciated.

Never took mine out but have changed the indicator units and I'd say access is best from the front grill aperture, pop that out and work from there, the indicator grills are just stuck in I think.

Thanks,

That makes sense. Hopefully I'll have them before the weekend.

Does anyone have any ideas on where is the best place to get paint to match the body? A spray can would be ideal if the paint matched up.

On mine they were just stuck in position with silkaflex so a stanley knife from the rear to cut through and keep pealing the old stuff from the body until clean.
I made new ones and used P40 the fibreglass resin in a tin to hold the new ones in place and then re-made the join to the body with silkaflex.

Thanks everone.

I fear mine might be difficult to remove like yours above. They are bonded with something from the outside so will most likely take some cutting, sanding and prep!

Nothing easy eh!
