Need to decide today! A tale of three C4S Cabrios... Help!

Hi all

I have been looking around for a while for a C4s CABRIOLET and I have refined my search down to three cars.

I would be very grateful if I could have some educated views on which you guys think is the car to go for based on (1) specification (2) ease of resale (3) anything else I may not have taken into account. I have to consider resale because that is important and I'll be keeping it for about 2 years and 15,000 miles.

As you will see, the three choices are all slightly different and I really can't decide! One car is older but has low mileage, the other cars are newer! The age of the car is throwing me as well, and I am not sure if that is actually important...

I'll be buying one of these this weekend so hope to decide today, and put down a deposit.

2 manuals, 1 tip... do you not have a preference for one or the other?

For me it would be the meteor grey one- I would want a manual gearbox, and don't really like black. Plus it has heated seats (admittedly a personal preference).

As the previous poster said, do you want a manual or a tiptronic- the driving experience will be very different.

This - and not just for colour, I'd prefer the younger car. All depends on condition of course, though I'd discount the tip - not for me.

I think my preference is for the manual, because the tip didn't seem particularly quick/responsive. But then, it was a very short drive.

I think it really comes down to cars 1 and 2. So it's black 2005 C4s vs grey 2008 C4s (with 10,000 more miles)! Any devil in the detail you guys can think of?

I suspect the grey car will be easier to move on...

Just noticed car 2 has PSE as well - which makes my mind up - it has full OPC history apparently, and is still low miles for age. As long as it's been looked after (and the warranty suggests it has been), that's the one to have.

Not a Porsche owner or even a prospective owner but if it was a car I was looking a,t the age, colour, options, service history and being a manual would sway it for me.

For me, grey is the colour of gloom. I'd never have a grey car.

But 10k miles isn't really anything and the spec sounds higher and its a newer car.

I you aren't bothered about colour, I'd probably go for the newer car as colour is a personal choice - you will always have a buyer for eithe colour as this thread shows.

I'd go with car 2 as well because of the spec and because of the colour. I know I'm driving basalt black, but if I could've found meteor grey at the time, I would have taken it.

I'd definitely avoid the Tiptronic car and I echo the feedback from others re the grey car being a better buy as newer and better spec.

Only argument in favour of the black one is its being sold by a dealer, would they stand by the car in case of trouble?

Black is a PITA to keep clean. Meteor Grey looks great clean or dirty.

Plus it's a manual. Only one choice.

The grey one does tick all the boxes, PSE, heated seats, manual (for a Gen 1), Porsche warranty. Is it getting a bit close to a Gen 2 in price?

Newer car. Low mileage for year. Good spec. Renewable Porsche warranty. Get it inspected by OPC to confirm condition and warranty transfer status and if all good get it bought!

If it helps with resale, I had a meteor grey 4S with PSE and sold it in a day. It is a very attractive combination

The 2005 car looks very expensive even accounting for the mileage. Lack of heated seats in a cab bad news.....

2007 onwards car also had an improved intermediate shaft design i believe hence no brainer. go for the 2008 car
