Hi Folks,

A pal of mine used to have the Chimaera but since selling, is now looking at getting back into the fold.
He now fancys a Cerbera but is unsure on whether to go for the Speed Six or AJP block. So a couple of questions if I may
He's ideally looking for the most reliable of the two (if possible)?
Which out of the two is more complex to repair?
We know our way around the Rover V8's

Any help I can pass to him would be appreciated

Yip just about every other week there is a thread on this,

Here is the last one.
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The Speed Six guys love there cars

The AJP guys love there cars.

Normally it ends up in a fight between the two diffrent engine owners, but I am not getting involved in this one.

The normall outcome is that overall concensious is that the Speed six is by far the BEST....

GET IT UP YOU AJP owners.........bag of spanners.laughlaughlaugh

Not sure AJP works that well in the fog, or sounds as good in the dark as a speed6 during the summer, but its as daft as that really, if you want a Cerbera, check your budget buy what you can afford, if you reach too far there's nothing left for the spends that will obviously come, I got a really cheap speed6 for 8k low mileage great engine crap chassis, then a year in, spent 8k getting the chassis bushes diff well everything sorted, it has to be a keeper for this kind of commitment, but its all about how much, dont even look listen drive anything beyond your budget ,cos theyre like puppies with sad take me home eyes. Get knowledge help, do your research, won't go far wrong on here, a lot of top experienced people,
use em.
all the best

Jesus.. Seriously?! Again?!

We all know the AJP was crafted by God himself, and is the only Cerb to own. The 6 is the forgotten, lesser sibling.

Both brilliant. The fastest engine off the line is the one with the stickiest tyres on the warmest road and the driver with the best clutch control.

Honestly - there's nothing in them. If you go by "official" figures then the 4.5 AJP8 is the fastest, but I doubt I've ever managed a clean enough start to get near that.

They're all like slimey doo doo off a shovel - there isn't a joke engine or a slow one. The delivery is different but all are within a whisker of each other.

Either try 4.0, 4.2 and 4.5 and pick the favourite, or just forget it and buy the best example of the car.

I own a 4.5 and keep thinking about getting a Speed Six to go with it smile

on roads the 4.5 is the quicker due to the greater torque and not needing to be reved so hard to get access to the power.

On the track the 4.5 is the fastest due to it having more horses and more torques to pusyh you out of the corner.

The Speed six is a great engine an is more refined but not by as much as some would have you think.

I have a 4.5.

Think there needs to be a sticky at the top of the page.

The sticky could be called

Buy the 4.5 as it's the daddy.

Im sure if PH fixed the search function, you guys wouldn't be bombarded with the same questions day after day.....

Weird that a site this big doesn't have a working search..
