escorts impossible to insure at 19?

why are escorts so expensive to insure compared to other cars? been looking at a few mk 3 and so escorts but all want like 6-7 grand to insure!

My guess would be that a fk tonne of escorts were crashed by 19 y/olds in the 90' and early 00's.

Jimmy is right, plus it's an older car and likely deemed less safe than a modern equivalent.

I had similar troubles at that age, then went and bought a new Volvo C30 which cost just less than £1500 to insure, bah.

Exactly this... it's a law of averages.

More Escorts have been crashed than Beige Rover 600s by 19 year olds, hence they cost more to insure.
