Interesting. I was thinking of doing something similar in order to integrate an iPad mini onto the center stack on my car but didn't know how to relocate the existing radio controls since they are used for other car functions and can't just be deleted (I have the older style console).
I agree that this was a lot of work but don't know if I like the aesthetic.
