Do Murco have a tie in with Shell? Now I realise that the fuel is all the same before additives mixed in but I recently watched a Murco tanker deliver to a Shell garage late at night.

Maybe it was a contract delivery? Only reason to ask is that many, on here even consider Murco fuel to be poor.

there are only a few refineries in the UK, they all share them and supply local stations, changing the additive formula depending on the brand

except shell vpower that is only made in one refinery and is not just normal fuel with an additive

I've looked for proof of that and never found it - linky?

I realise the fuel is the same until additives put in, but still surprised Shell may have used a rival's tanker.

Many of the garages are franchises and not actually owner by (for example) Shell. The owner may have needed a delivery very quickly and Shell couldn't deliver, or maybe Murco were cheaper that week?

Possibly, but you'd hope they added the correct additives if you bought V-Power, or didn't mix the tanks.

I'm sorry, I didn't see the bit where you mentioned they were putting it into the V-power tank.

I don't know what tank it went into, I was just making an observation smile
