So near yet so far

Gents. I attempted to remove the CD stacker from the car yesterday. It's been showing "deck error" and not working for a while so it was time for a showdown. All went surprisingly smoothly, with no issues removing various panels and disconnecting a multitude of electrical connector. Until that is I came to the final piece of the centre console that houses the radio, clock, AC controls etc. there just is not enough slack in the wiring loom to the rear to pull it forward enough to make the final disconnections so that it can be removed and allow access to the CD changer. I tried every trick I could think of but it was firmly hung up, and short of brute force yanking it was a show stopper. Any suggestions? Is there some sort of reset procedure that would kick start it back into life and prevent having to remove the bloody thing altogether?

That video doesn't show what you are looking for - and I know exactly what you mean as I've had the same problem in the past with my last V8V. The four screws come out but it doesn't pull far enough forward to reach the multi plugs.
Interestingly my new V8V pulls far enough forward completely fine, so seems to be a luck thing. There are two access panels to either side of the centre consol you can try take out and reach in - where your knee would hit if you were sitting in the car.
