A friend of mine took this photo of an abandoned car near her house, but we can't tell what it is, can the PH gurus identify it!?

Thanks!

Apologies I can't embed the image due to Flickr/copyright.

That looks jolly close to a 1950s MG TF, but there are a few subtle differences to the Fs I'm familiar with.

the line up of the wing gills suggest a very ropey kit car, style of a 1930s Alvis

Notice the octagonal radiator cap though... if it's a kit car it's trying to be an MG.

It looks very similar to one of the gentry kit cars,

Probably right with the Gentry kit car

Notice the suicide doors and gap in the wing louvres for the indicator as well the spots on the arches and bonnet catches.

It does not seem to have proper wire wheels, appears to have wire wheel effect hub caps. This would support the kit car theory.

Gentry looks right to me, thanks a lot chaps!

It's ever so annoying when you can't work out what a car is, so that is excellent work. smile

A coincidence that Crusoe should say that though as my late grandfather had both a 1930s Alvis and a 1957 TF (what the gentry looks like it's based on)! They were indeed very different.
