The urban myth that TVR's always brake down has never been the case with me. On TVR number 3 and have never broken down. Driving a TVR is a real drivers car experience and for a two seater sports car has a very big boot which is why i put excellent for space. Roof off and the noise of the V8 just brings smiles of joy which is what motoring should be about if your a petrol head. The cabin is just a glorious place to sit and well advanced in it's time at 17 years old now. The power it delivers is just a bonus as 99% of the time i'm just burbling along listening to the V8 crackle and pop. The car and image is loved by most of road users if they love cars that is. I could be sat behind a Range Rover and in front of a Jaguar at four times the cost and a pedestrian will shout ohh TVR.
When driving the TVR I find drivers to be much more considerate, always being let out at junctions, people smiling and lost count of the times I see windows drop to listen to the sound.
Would I have another? The answer is simple Yes Yes Yes... Thank you TVR for being in my life.

Other Questions were:

Performance: My answer Excellent
Handling : My answer Good
Space : My answer Excellent (For 2 seats it is)
Build Quality: My answer Good
Value for money : Excellent
Running costs : High ( Simply because of fuel costs and service is close to 3 times that of a family car)

Anyone else been writing reviews of their P&J recently.

I've never broken down either but then I've replaced most things to ensure it doesn't!

If I think back twenty years and think of a car twenty years old then,,,,,,,,, Tvrs are really rather good!

Recently plenty of chaps have noticed the prices rising,,,,,,,,,, it doesn't take many brains to work out what your getting for your money, at £15,000 for a good un its still cheap, what can you get that's anything like it for that price.
Speed/power/handling and a great noise and two exhausts I say two exhausts!!!!

Nice review TVRJAS.

No but have to agree with most of what you say only build quality ; Poor [from the factory]

Read the posts on this forum, its nothing major thats at fault....its just lots of little things that TVR did wrong. Chassis powdercoat just to mention one. There are lots more.

All adds up to poor original build quality.

Now many years later, most of these cars are better than when they left the factory, as over time "us owners" are putting everything right.

End result is a fantastic car for the money......but schhhhhh...keep it quiet every one will want one.

P.s as for reliability, in 2012 i did 2000 miles plus thru France, Belgium, and Germany, for 6 days, including a lap of the Nurgburing, and 6 laps around SPA at a serious pace. .....Not bad for an unreliable car!

Sold my chim for a house deposit.

Been saving up for a chim/wedge, but the recent price rises have moved the goal-posts a fair bit.

Hi TJC,

Fully agree with what you say I guess I have just been lucky with my 3 second hand purchases as build quality has gone.

So for me ticking the good box could well of been excellent but I downgraded because I've read enough things where it's gone wrong.

There are plenty of Porsche and Ferrari horror stories about also but I bet they all put excellent. My mate does't rate Ferrari much when his 360 went for service after 1500 miles and got a bill for 5k smile

I'd hazard a guess that over a given period the cost of depreciation on that family car will more than cover your fuel and servicing costs.

Man maths you see.

^^ Agree with the above !

I'm surprised 'ChimponGas' hasn't commented yet - if your car is a keeper (well 10-15k miles anyway then take the extra cost of fuel out of the equation - LPG is half the price of petrol giving the equivalent of 40+ mpg in a car with zero depreciation - love man maths (I just don't show the wife the other costs of keeping her on the road....).

I can confirm, Rich's drives beautifully and there's definitely a sense of occasion when he fires it up!
