I've been casting my eye on these Polos - what is your opinion of it so far?

TDI 100 or 130, that's the question! What are the general views on this car(prob 2005-7) and reliability?

Well the 100 was close to us and I knew they could be tuned, well it's just a golf engine so reliability should be good,
Thanks

They are reliable provided you run them properly, use the correct oil and don't put low quality supermarket diesel in them. They don't like continuous town driving or short journeys as it causes the variable veins on the turbo to clog up (made worse by using crap fuel)

Do both the 100 and 130 have variable turbos or just the 130?

TDI 130 costs a lot more as not many available, nice to have the 6 speed wheras the 100 does without.

The 2003-2005 models are really good, one we have came with a very high spec - very comfy Sports front seats, heated, dual zone climate, 6 disk in dash cd, sunroof etc for a small car felt quite good on long trips.
Ours was the 100 bhp 5 speed, had no major problems we sold it at 125k, only big expense was DMF but we used a standard steel flywheel kit from GSF (uses a corrado flywheel) and it was fine.

MPG on these is great long drives at 85 will return mid 45 mpg.
