I would like to fit a full harness seat belts to my griff.

Can anyone tell me how this can be carried out. What strong points are required, and does any conversion need to take place ?

Any pictures would be of benefit too.

Three or four point : what are the benefits of either choice ?

Thanks in advance.....

First question has to be, do you have a roll hoop?
Harness' without are a big no-no, also by fitting a hoop, it will give you the correct anchor points for harness fixing.

^^ + 1 ^^

Deffo have to have the roll over hoop & with independant location for right & left shoulder strap to the roll over hoop.

I would also suggest if you are not going out & out racing that you retain the inertia set-up, because the full harness will not let you reach much beyond the radio - certainly not to anything on the passenger seat or behind you.....!!

If you don't have a roll hoop and just want to be better located in your seat for spirited driving or trackdays, these http://www.cg-lock.com/ work fairly well.

Yep, can vouch for CG Locks, they work well IMHO.

I got mine from here-

I don't have a roll bar fitted (yet) but I now understand the reason for having this for anchor points.

Its not for track days. I have just had some major surgery and its for better fitting and protection of internal organs.

Any leads or advice on roll hoops ?

I thought the main reason is so that you aren't decapitated in the event of you rolling the car i.e. full harness and no roll bar is a bad combination.

Totally correct, comma, however, there is no chassis mounting point with which to attach the shoulder straps either sensibly or that meet MSA requirements (not usually sensible recommendations, IMHO, either).

All of above is successfully met with a roll over bar which may need modifying to take the shoulder straps to seperate mounting bolts - a sensible arrangement which MSA approve!(not all roll bars have them!).

Pedant-cy rules OK 8-))

Why would you want to protect internal organs for road use and leave your skull exposed to a roll hoop?

Suggesting that with a harness and roll over bar you should wear a helmet?

All I wish to do is improve my safety. I think a helmet for general road use is a bit extreme, but I do realise the fact that I require a rool hoop to fit a sensible harness.

I won't be doing track days.

I don't want to get carried away with this.

I think what they are saying above is, just fitting a roll hoop isn't a simple fix...due to the tight confines of the cockpit, the roof location and seat position, it is near impossible to get a roll hoop positioned a safe distance from your head, especially if you are tall, so in the event of a crash your head is likely to rattle around the hoop.
I am a short arse and my seat is a far forwards as it will go so I would be ok...but not necessarily my passenger.

ETA as said above harness in a convertible without cage/hoop is a no no. The harness is designed to hold you rigidly in the upright position so no chance of survival in a roll, or indeed if you happen to end up in the trees (I hugged the trannie tunnel when I wrote my first griff off and that possibly saved me as branches came through the hood and side windows).
