What do you straight after buying a used car?
Discussion
First off, usually some bulb replacement. I've recorded on here about my OCD before regarding this
and I absolutely can't have different lamp brightness across lamp clusters, where older, blacker bulbs lurk on one side of the cluster...
A full clean and valet to MY level of OCD usually comes next...
Then it's normally off the to the tyre shop for a full set of good-quality, matching rubber all round. I don't think I've ever bought a used car with a decent set of matching boots...
Any outstanding servicing requirements come next - but whatever the service book says, the car still gets an oil-change with a new genuine filter, and some nice stuff like Mobil 1. Now I KNOW what's in the motor.
Then within a couple of weeks, my final holy grail of brake and suspension replacement. Regardless of condition, I usually fit some new Bilsteins, springs if I deem it necessary, suspension bushes too, and a decent set of fast roads pads / discs at the front at least, the back too if they look a bit crusty. And at the same time, braided steel lines (Goodridge or HEL) with new fluid throughout.
THEN I am happy

Drive it home is usually first thing I do...
Then once its home either clean it if necessary or fill it up and go out for a hoon. When I bought my current car it already had a decent set of matching rubber, geo setup and bushes had all been done in the past year or so, all it needed was a quick wash and polish and all was well.
The weekend after I've bought a car is usually when it gets the big clean and full polish/wax/sealant, tyre and interior dressing etc. I'm too busy making up excuses to drive it for the first week
