I was just finishing off a lovely evening meal about 10 minutes ago when her indoors started questioning me about a certain way i always lay out my full English breakfast on the plate ( i fancied a fry up tonight) . I always have to make a barricade out of sausages to prevent any Bean juice, egg yolk overlap. I love fried eggs and i love my beans , but mix the yolk with the sauce and its bloody awful. The beans have to be as far from the egg as poss and this also determines the way i eat the meal so as not to get the 2 together.
Anyone else have quirks with particular meals or is it like her indoors says... that I'm a retard who cant eat properly ?

I have exactly the same issue! I usually do the beans in a separate dish to prevent them touching the fried egg.

The secret is to not have baked beans on a fry up. Heathens.

For myself, since being served pasta 'properly' in Italy, i.e. the sauce and pasta mixed as a dish in itself with nothing else, I cannot imagine ever doing it any other way.

clap I recommend this motion to the house. Beans have no place in a fry up, taking up the space that could give you more bacon, sausages or pudding. If your fry is too dry, add another fried egg, the extra yolk should sort it out, and as for tomatoes from a tin... rage

Sounds fair enough to me, each item to be enjoyed in isolation and if anyone is going to decide otherwise it should be you.

Last breakfast I had out and about the beans came in a little bowl on the plate which I thought was a great idea.

Worst offender for me in this would be a tinned tomato, never happy unless everything tastes and has the consistency of itself.

When I go to a Chinese/Indian buffet I make a Mercedes Benz badge from rice/noodles to keep three sauces separate. Get a few odd looks but never once been asked to leave...

Is there any other way? Can't be doing with cross contamination of things that need to be separate.

Tonight's dinner was chips, egg and beans (feeling lazy) chips in the middle keeping eggs and beans away from each other.

I can see the attraction of baked beans, but their moistness must be kept under control - and sausage barrier is an ideal tactic. I'm with you on tinned tomatoes though...

Tinned toms with lots of salt is king.

But your sausage barrier has to be of much greater structural integrity as Tom juice is far more penetrative than awful bean juice

I have to separate any different items on the plate and then eat them in a clockwise manner, always beginning and ending at 12 o'clock

yes I eat most stuff in isolation, I think it comes from my Nan drilling into me that I had to eat everything on the plate, so eat what I didn't like first!

I do this too hehe

I love it when the toast gets totally soaked with the juice. Stunning.

Serve the beans in a ramekin - more space for meat on the plate and no disgusting yolk / bean sauce contamination. yes

did the ramikin thing this morning, great solution. as for tomatoes, tinned or fresh i cant as i am very allergic, mushrooms too sadley. the tomato sauce in the beans has never realy seen a tom so dont affect me. have shown her indoors this thread and she thinks i only come here to talk to other food mentalists and we all need urgent therapy.... she's an odd one. one thing i cant get with a brekky is chips. you see it a lot down south. hash browns , yes... chips noooo.
