Why do I keep buying Jaguar cars?!
Discussion
I should by now be consuming my third or forth drink at the lovely Babington House.
However, I am in fact broken down in deepest Somerset awaiting RAC recovery.
Alternator failure it seems. My third XKR and frankly they've all proven rather too unreliable,
New F Type R.......no. Jaguar build quality just isn't good enough in my view.

Well I'm home now at least!
The car has gone into storage overnight and will be delivered to Hartwell in the morning.
RAC chap said Jaguar are very reliable these days! Perhaps I should give them another shot - I've still accepted my invitation to the F Type Coupe dealership launch on Feb 8th

If it's the alternator, then it's hardly Jaguar build quality. Bosch or Valeo, or whoever makes it surely?!

Other than a door rattle, my XF hasn't put a foot wrong yet. Can't say the same for my previous Audis and Beemers.

It'll be the same alternator found in Merc, BMW, VAG, so by your reckoning, their build quality must be poor too.

I'm sorry but as previously stated - there are hundreds of parts on the car not actually made by Jaguar. This will be the case for most other cars I suspect. The fact is that Jaguar choose these parts and they fit them to their cars. People often cite Renault as being poorly built because of the electrical issues they seem prone to - however, Renault do not actually make most of these parts themselves! By your reckoning we cannot accuse Renault of poor build quality?!
