So, as the title kind of alludes, I would like some suggestions on fun cars. I'll be using it for maybe 4,000 mostly dry miles per year.
I have a budget of around the £25k mark, maybe pushed up to £30k, and not until around this time next year (I have a work-sponsored holiday to AG to get through first).
I have a few requirements, however. I'd very much like a V8 - the noise they make is incredible! And I've not owned one yet... There can be exceptions, however - Caterhams could be an idea, for example.
It also needs to be (reasonably) cheap to run and maintain - so cheap Ferraris and Lamborghini's (and generally things of that ilk) are, unfortunately, excluded. I'm a mechanic by trade, so I can do a lot of routine maintenance myself, and some of the big stuff too - engines and gearboxes don't scare me. Too much...
I have been looking at LS2 Monaro VXR's, a few faster Caterhams, TVR Cerberas (a childhood fantasy car for me) and most recently, a few Cobra replicas (specifically the Gardner Douglass MK3 and the Crendon range).
Any advice, good or bad will be considered, and anything alternatives will be noted and scrutinised!
Thanks all!
