I used to go to school in Dover and watched the ships come and go.

Also miss the hovercrafts that used to thunder in and out of the docks.

In fairness the guys you hear talking are probably the passage crew. From what they are saying I don't believe they were either in command for the beaching nor at the helm.

It's likely they'd use a pilot from the beach for this bit. Watching some other videos of beachings it seems common practice to put up a big flag where the bow is supposed to go; at least that's what they do in Pakistan. I couldn't find another video of a ship being parked with such extreme prejudice though. Think of it as a viking burial.

I travelled on her many a time over the years, and remember as a young boy when they were new.

It is a little bit sad to see her come to such a sudden and unceremonious end like that. Ho hum.
