Hi Peeps...Just wondered if anyone know's the actual length of them as the ones in the Chimaera seats are bent slightly.
I have new hex head bolts but they have a shank which looks a bit too long and i cannot get them in to the runner fitting holes without removing the runners from the seat.

I was thinking of maybe using the nut in the runner and feeding the bolt up from underneath but don't want the bolt too long obviously...Any help appreciated...Cheers...Ziga

Do not know about the Chim seats but I would put a nut on it, check the length needed and cut it to size with a cutting disk and use the nut to cut the thread right before fitting?? Simples!

Still have a complete Chim interior in the garage so glad to be of help:

Measuring complete length = 62mm rear 35mm front (shorter due to runner bracket).

Regards, Paul.

Thanks Paul...I have just realised i haven't been specific in my first post..I actually meant the length required for the Wedge seat bolts...The holes line up but the two small bolts on the Chim seats are too small to go through the runners and through the Wedge floor...I think..But any longer and i will have to remove the runners on the Chim seats to get longer bolts in...Cheers...Ziga

Probably a lot shorter than you think; the floor's only a few millimetres thick below the seats, the runners are 2 or maybe 3mm steel, then I guess it depends on how many bits of wood/ packing washers you have filling up space biggrin
Probably 25mm shank length would be ample.

Zig,

You used to be able to get captive nuts (square ones in a metal cage) which clip into a square hole. I bet you still can.

I used this style in seat runners a few times, and it's a very neat way to renew the fastenings. Then the bolts fit from underneath, and I used setscrews (the official name for a bolt which is threaded for its entire length) and trimmed them as required.

eek...I take it you don't have speed humps where you live....There is only five inches space under a Wedge....hehe

Thanks Ian...I think that size would be adequate to pop in there without removing the runners from the seat itself...

Mark, if you still need to know, it just so happens I have my seats out at present - the bolts through the floor are M8 x 40mm (i.e. not including the bolt head). I changed all of mine for stainless 3 or 4 years back.

Thanks for that Paul...Im planning on getting some stainless hex head bolts on thursday, I find it easier with an allen key holding the bolt and a socket under the car...Cheers for the info...Ziga

As you are changing seats...
Do you have those plastic bits that cover the circular springs at the rear of the sitting part of the seat. The bolts too if you have them

You would not need to mail them to the US, my Brother is popping over this year.
Beer tokens waiting.

Jeff

I originally read this thread as Seat Belt length, I was a bit worried you had put on a few excess poundssmile
