Value difference between plates
Discussion
We're going to lease a car for 2 yrs. At the end of that we plan to buy it (we've been told this will be offered).
Apparently the car is due in at the dealer the middle of this month.
They've asked whether we want it ASAP, or whether we'd like to wait for the new plate.
So. Given the plan to buy it at the end, surely we should get it ASAP and have it on a 63?
Book price for it at the end will surely be cheaper, even though obviously it's the same car!
What do you reckon?
I can't find any evidence to support this beyond the difference between selecting different years/plates on valuation sites like Parkers.

Won't the value be determined up front based on it being 2 years old rather than being on a specific plate? If it was being valued in two years it'd make a difference, but I don't think that's how it works.
I know what you mean, but if (for example) i was to take a car to a dealer for a valuation for p/ex, they'd get their book out, scan down the page with their finger to the reg/year, scan across and come up with a number.I have no idea how/when the lease company comes up with a value, so it's probably silly to try to second-guess it.
The plate won't make a difference, it'll be a two year old car no matter what - valuations are based on Month of registration.
The only time it will make a difference is to the consumer, two identical used cars on a forecourt in two years time, one a 63 plate, one a 14 plate, the dealer can get away with whacking £250-500 on the 14 plate car as it's 'newer', even though there might only be a week between them.

Heart says get it ASAP. Head kind of says get it ASAP too as it "might" go in our favour come purchase time.
