Finally got the OK from SWMBO for a new TV.

Currently using a circa 5yr old Panasonic plasma 37" that I have no complaints about at all.

Size wise, I'd like to go up to a 47 or 50.
Budget is up to £1k.
I'd like a very slim line set with a thin bezel.

The shortlist I've managed based on internet research alone...
Panasonic P50ST60
Panasonic L50ET60
Sony W656

This is for the living room and other than being near some french doors, doesn't really get any direct sunlight.

I know the Panasonic GT60 would be the one to go for, but budget just isn't going to allow that. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Have a look at Hughes Direct and the CO-OP electrical they both seem to be quite cheap now a day.

Avoid the sony there have been lots of sets recalled. We an AV company have sent lots back and have had a number of failures. (BTW we supply what the customer requests).

I would go with the Panasonic for sure however note nearly all TV's now have an LG screen in them so the software is the main reason for going Panasonic.

Size wise, measure the distance from the location of the TV to where you watch, divide it 4 then that is the approx size for the height of your TV Screen. Its the rule we use in AV anyway. Anything smaller is too small for HD, anything bigger is just spending money!

We bought another 42" in November then bought a new fish tank and had to move the TV. Now we wish we had bought a 65" TV! Typical.

Any suggestions on which Panasonic range to go for? Motion blur is a big concern. Most of our viewing is Sky (HD where possible), Formula 1 and movies (BD and streamed via Apple TV)
