Good theme WMV! Number 3 gets my vote.

This one surprised me: when I pressed the button the hoverfly was still on the flower - or so I thought...

Confession time: I used a Canon 10D (well everyone should speak a foreign language )

With compact cameras I find it's mostly luck when you get an exceptional shot..

However you can increase your chances lots by knowing how to best compose a shot - fill the frame with the subject etc...

This is most noticable at a wedding I find. All the photos I take have the subjects filling the whole picture. Then you hand your camera to someone else to take a photo you are in, and you get a nice photo of some people with loads of sky, grass, carpark all round the edges.

edited to add....

The beauty of digital cameras is of course that you can take 20 photos when you would normally only take one. The chances of gettting a nice one are 20 times higher again!

I actually have my camera set to take 3 shots at a time. That way, you get three versions of each photo and can choose the best.
