A photoshop question

Can someone please help me?

I have a picture that looks like this:


What I would like is that the borders between the blue and the white are smooth. So far I have tried the gradient tool and the radiant gradient but that does not do the trick. So, what should I do?

You mean an out-of-focus look? How about reselecting the circles with a feather on the tool?

You've got the right idea, I've got a feeling if you just need to select gradient tool then at the top left you can choose if it's a radiating gradient (circular from centre) and that will do the trick

Layer->duplicate layer->filter->Gaussian blur. Adjust to suit.

Another option would be to select the 2 white bands with the magic wand, then go path > make work path.

Once the path is made and active, you can stroke the path white or blue with the paint brush and control the size of the stroke depending on brush size.

It can be done on it's own layer too.

Did you mean something like this?



Open the image... Select/Colour Range... Set fuzziness to about 100... Select the blue with the dropper... CTRL+V to make the selection a new layer... Reduce the size of the layer slightly to move it away from the edges of the image (use the bounding box corners holding shift as you drag to keep shape)... Delete/hide the original image layer (you dont need it) so you have a plain white background layer underneath the new blue rings layer...



... Right click on the layer icon and Select Pixels... goto Select/Refine Edge... Shift Edge to approx -75%... Adjust feather to approx 10px and OK that... Make the selection a Layer Mask by pressing the icon at the bottom of the layers tab...

Gausian Blur would maybe do something similar but might not give the desired effect, plus it's destructive. The method above can be toggled between the original and smooth edges, plus you can just remake the mask if you decide you want to alter the effect.

So this is the effect I wanted, but of course not a straight line but as a cirkel.

Hmm, I'll be honest. You've lost me.

Is that not what I did before? Faded the edges? Colours can be changed to whatever you like.

You could create a similar effect playing with gradients over the layer of the rings...

So far I tried this:
Create a new image
new layer
layer style
created the gradient style.

But what is next? How do I make the circles?

Set the gradient type as radial. That way the gradient will start from a centre point rather than top to bottom etc.

You then need to customise the gradient by adding in new colours etc.
