Error. Meant just OS!
For maps, the unit is a Garmin GVN 54. The closest I can find is this:

I'm led to believe you can get the maps from AM for about £70. Garmin also seem to update the maps 4 times a year not that it's worth doing yourself that often.
Having looked at the files on the SD card it will probably include the OS/SW upgrade if you get the latest map - there is a file called gupdate.gcd that seems to an OS update. The structure of the files seems quite simple, what I've not worked out yet is whether it loads the files from the sd card or runs them from there, ie if I put a card in and it doesn't work right, will taking the card out fix it.

Isn't it great that an ordinary dumb punter (me!) can know more than a dealer who probably charges £100+VAT per hour for their mechanics' work.
Given that the TSB was sent to them on 11 December 2013, the question is why don't they know about it and why have they not ordered the SD card.
That's why I have to subscribe to the relevant techinfo sites for BMW, AML and Ferrari. Always helps to go in and say "do this" whilst producing a printed TSB, rather than be fobbed off with the usual BS of its a characteristic, they all do that, never heard of that before, we'll need to speak to head office, blah blah add excuse of the day from numpty on service desk.
In my view all "service advisers" should be required to attend all tech courses and read all TSBs applicable to their brand, daily. Hilarious exchange with a BMW "service adviser" who thought there were no fuses for boot lights, and my car would need coding outside of warranty for the bulbs not working. Of course it was a 10p fuse......

As regards sales and the knowledge of the sales person on their product, given that a major PLC which sells all the supercar brands and others (inc AML) flat rates the sale of all brands to £199 per car to the sales person, no surprise its a merry go round of staff turnover. At £199 per car + minimum wage and a company car (with related P11(D) BIK charge), hardly worth getting out of bed for.

I have a AM V12 Vantage 2012 and pulled out the left hand cover behind the drivers seat and saw as set encasements but none that had an SD card slot exposed for insertion and extraction of a SD card. Does anyone with an AM Vantage V12 know where the SD card goes in the Garmin Sat Nav system? Thank You!

The Garmin maps update 4 times a year. Garmin City Navigator Europe NT work fine (if you can get an unlocked version) although the speed cameras aren't part of that (you still have them, they just don't upgrade).
The slot on the coupe is the left hand side when you open the boot. You may not have a memory card inserted. (the pictures/description a few posts before this is accurate)

One way to find out if there are any updates for your system is to remove the SD card and enter the part number into the URL below, replacing the numbers at the end

m2mboss, did you ever discover the location of the sd card slot on a Vantage Roadster? There is a slot top right of the actual screen but it is slightly too small for a mini sd card so I don't know what it's function is unless maybe a micro sd card?David
