now I have emissions service message. I'm planning to run it for a few days to see whether the message clears. Unfortunately my obd reader refuses to communicate, though it is perfectly happy with my 04 Focus.
Anyone have a similar experience?

It needs to be can 2 capable (I think). Mine reads everything from Megan's to Mercedes but won't communicate with the aston. Mines an Elmscan type. Borrowed a mechanic friends handheld device, orange and black with a built in screen and it read the codes no problem.
Hope this helps.

A quick battery disconnect should clear any stored codes, unless you have an unrelated hard fault.

OBD reader problem is usually caused by plugging it into the wrong port (there are two).

Just another AM headache...... LOL.... Do you know what, I really do think that other than how my car looks and sounds, the rest of it is utter st..... There is always something that is ether broken, breaking, Rattling, leather peeling up in areas where they have skimped on the leather, wearing out, or just rusting...... I actually compare the quality to that of a garage built kit car... Mine keeps losing its settings.... One day the mirrors will fold in and out... And then they wont!! Another day the windows will drop when opening the door, then.... yep they wont... How I have kept this car for nearly 3 years I will never know... smile

You should try an 03 Mercedes Sl if you think you've got problems!!! The list of problems i have had with this car would make your teeth itch, my V8V is by far the more reliable and better built of the two, no mistake.

Just a thought burnt out. When you leave it stood for a while do you put a trickle charger on? Sounds like a low voltage issue to me.

That is only one of the things.... No it gets used more frequently than most... And in all honestly as far as reliability goes, its never broken down, it just always has some niggle or another!! wink
