G'day all,

Well I'm here in sunny Nth Queensland for a month and have managed to acquire a brand spanking new Calais for a month or so. So I thought I best give you all a bit of an idea of how the V6 goes. I realise it's no V8 but with 190Kw it's more than some of the V8's of old.

I drove up from Brisbane to Cairns in it and it went like a dream. In a heavy Calais, overtaking and 180kph was not an issue. Haven't had the chance to wind it out properly, but will let you know how it goes. With this kind of performance, the V6 in the new Torana should be a blast. I averaged about 8.8l per 100kms, that's sitting on 100kph like a good boy. With unleaded prices over here at the moment ranging between Australian 95c and $1.05, it makes sense to take it easy most of the time.

The new 'flappy paddle' setup is a joy to use and great for the winding bits, but tend to stick with 'D' for the long hauls.

The only gremlins that have raised their heads so far are a faulty cruise control activation, but that sorted it self out and a false indication of a rear brake light out, which also proved to be false.

Well I'm off for another drive, going to go to my nearest Holden dealer and suss out the new 6.0L.

Catch up with you all soon
Adrian...
