Had a ride in a 63 Plate Land Rover on Sunday which was an unusual experience. Last Land Rover I was in was about 40 years old a long time ago - this one seemed to feel the same, ride the same and smell the same whilst simultaneously managing to be new. It's like being in something steam powered from the early twentieth century that's somehow still new but not modern. I liked it. It has the gearing and the power to do 70 mph but that somehow doesn't seem right either. Is it the last vehicle on sale with a single din radio aperture ? Its technology predates my Capri by decades yet it's still with us. When we lose it next year we really are losing a piece of our automotive history. I know that the newer Land Rover stuff is all very good and in almost every way probably better but somehow it just won't be the same.
