Eating rubbish food
Discussion
I was just wondering... I eat a fair amount of rubbish food - pastries, cake, fatty sugary foods.
However, I'm not putting on any weight as my calorie intake roughly matches what I burn and I burn a fair amount of calories. I play badminton and squash around 7 times a week.
My question is, how much harm could the rubbish food be doing? Visually I look and feel very fit, but I have no idea if my insides are getting clogged up /deteriorated. Orr, if I'm burning all the crap away with all the activity I do.
Thoughts much appreciated.

I remember reading an article about Michael Phelps, and in that it said he consumed around 8000 calories a day whilst training for the Olympics. When they listed the food, it was stuff like waffles, ice cream and other junk food which usually would be considered pretty crap. But he was burning calories so quickly that he was throwing loads of rubbish down his neck! It didn't seem to do him too much harm as he turned out to be a decent swimmer! As for the effects of that style of eating on his insides I have no idea, maybe diabetes when he's older?
If you don't spend at least some time eating clean you are going to store up problems for a later date. Calories in vs calories out will determine weight loss / gain / stasis. Eating clean will determine composition and health or lack thereof long term. You don't have to be a fatty to develop Hypertension and diabetes.

Pretty much this. A bad diet will manifest itself in the future and present high risks of coronary heart disease (e.g., atherosclerosisis, hypertension, cholesterol etc).theshrew said:

I firmly bevel that much of the wave of autism and similar illnesses that are spreading like wildfire now are caused by the amount of chemicals and other crap that is put into modern processed food. Along with growth hormones, artificial fertilisers, insecticides etc.No, I have no evidence, just a smattering of common sense.

1000000% agree. I dont trust any company who makes that much money with my health and well being. Fresh, organic and local if possible. Makes me shudder when you see what is in processed/junk food. No, I have no evidence, just a smattering of common sense.
OP - look for common ingredients and or additives in the food you eat then research them. You might well change your mind about eating them!

tload of nuts, seeds and nut butters. Not to mention adding olive oil to vegetables. You could also eat pasta, rice, potatoes etc.
