How long have you had yours?

I read a post a few days ago where a Seven owner mentioned he'd built his Seven and is still driving it twenty five years later.
It made me wonder how long have others had theirs and how long you'd expect to continue the relationship?
Extending the question, have you had more than one?

My Caterham is the latest a series of 'kit' cars I've built and owned. I suppose it was down to space, money, and personal circumstance that determined how long I kept them. But I always regretted selling everyone of them. So the R400 is here to stay

I've had my '93 Supersprint since February 1999, had too much fun in it and spent too much money on it to even consider selling it. I reckon it'll stay until I can't manage to get in and out of it with ease....

I've had my HPC nine years now (the car is 20 years old this April) and don't plan on parting with it for the foreseeable future. In fact I plan to have it re-skinned and resprayed in the next couple of years to tidy it up so it is good for the next 20 years.

A friend of mine built his in 1990 and still owns to this day so not far off the 25 years you state. Amazingly his has stayed in its original configuration save for recently electronic ignition and changing the standard roll bar for an FIA one.

I've had my R300D for 4 days now. My first Caterham.

Got my first at 22 and kept it 8 years. Now have one pretty much my ideal spec which has kept me entertained for 3 years.

I would be happy to keep this one to the end of my days as newer and faster ones seem to be a case of diminishing returns. And for the same money there are other cars I would have in addition to my current car rather than climbing the Caterham ladder.

But I can't live without one, bloody things!

Same here. Had it just over a year and I'm not buying anything more powerful until I feel I've gotten the most out of this. I'm faster than most things in the dry as it is, and in the wet, more power certainly isn't going to help

Had mine close to 3 years now. Absolutely love it and as you can see from this thread here I'm in for the long haul as I'm happy to do the work to keep it in good order and slowly upgrade it to be perfect. I will eventually sell it but only to buy another

Lotus 7/Caterham owner now 46 years. Been reincarnated a couple of times (the 7 not me) but still has a couple of original 1968 parts fitted.
Current incarnation is now 26 years old (changed the chassis to take different engine).

Bought my S2 in 1972 (42 years) its ready for its 3rd rebuild now, its the second I've owned. 1st was an S2 reg 166 NAR, where are you now?

Ten years for first one; seven and counting for the second.No intention of getting another one- why would I - spec ideal for me and the only thing I'd change might be diff ratio(a bit taller would be good) and possibly the colour.

Just over two years for mine. Will probably do some engine work in a few years. Also may buy a different one for racing...

I have owned and built 4 different model Caterhams since 1998.

I only ever sell them when its time for an upgrade.

Seems that in sixteen years of ownership, i have changed them approximately every 4 years!!

My Current R500 is three years old, perhaps time for an upgrade?

I have had a caterham for nearly 14 years The first one a 1600 roadsport for 8yrs the second a superlight R300 I have never thought about selling

11 years this summer and probably as many rebuilds striving to get my perfect spec :-)

Not planning on selling anytime soon.
