Nordschleife recovery and ADAC confusion
Discussion
On another forum, I have read that if you have an ADAC International membership, the ADAC would recover you on the Nordschleife itself on a TF day as part of the service.
I always assumed that only the "official" recovery truck could do that for €250 and then if need be the ADAC or whoever could take over when the car has been cleared away from the track.
Does any know ?

I think the official recover truck is ADAC
This^ bomgard are the local Adac agents so they will pick you up from the TF days on track, as well as the car park at spa-don't ask me how we found out!As the recovery truck is the local bomgard one, I'd hazard a guess that they'll also pick you up should you need them on a private track day too but hopefully you won't have to find out.

Thank you very much. It does make sense. I therefore take it that should you get recovered on track you can present your ADAC membership card instead of paying the €250 fee (or whatever it is).
That's about the top & bottom of it
My German friend crashed a couple of times last year and this was the case (Bongard), although the ADAC low loaders have been seen on the track:

Slightly off topic, but I drive from Holland across Germany to Czech Republic at least twice every year.
My car is now over 15 years old and high mileage, so sooner or later I am going to get stuck; is it worth my while considering ADAC membership before this happens?
Currently, neither AA or RAC will cover me due to the age of vehicle and the insurance based cover is just ridiculously expensive.

I didn't crash on the 'Ring, but had a crank sensor fail on the way back from Cochem when the track was closed due to an accident.
Asked them about repatriating me & the car, but they said they'd only drop the car off at either a local dealer (or hotel) despite having the Plus cover.
4pm on a Saturday afternoon on a public holiday weekend meant the dealer wasn't open and we were booked on a 6pm ferry back on the Monday.
Also asked about leaving the car at an independent and getting it delivered home once fixed, but they said no to that too.
Their English speaking lady didn't even seem to understand my concerns, so I drove home at a steadily decreasing max revs (5000 initially and 2000rpm by the time I hit Colchester). Although did get back from Adenau to Colchester on one tank of petrol.
Rotten rubber in the crank damper was the cause of the failed crank sensor and the dealer probably wouldn't have had on in stock anyway for a 20 year old e34 M5.

Will ADAC Insure a UK or Irish Car , and is it get you home cover? And how easy is it to arrange cover using their web site? Do you need a german address?
Correction for Martian O and for MajorDad. You cannot apply for ADAC membership online if you do not live in Deutschland. I do believe it even says this somewhere on the English version. You have to ring them up. When you ring up ask for an English speaker (you may have a little wait) but if you have a basic grasp of German you can do it with a German. They only ask for you address, typr of cover and credit card number.
Try +49 221 472 710 13.
