Stepper Motor Question

Hi guys,

Just been doing some checks today on the car and I noticed that clamping off the air feed from the plenum to stepper motor has stall effect on the idle. Is this supposed to happen? I thought the idle was supposed to drop normally.

I recently cleaned my stepper and it wasn't all that bad to be honest. Idle is currently sitting at around 600 rpm.

It should- 600 rpm is the base idle setting approximately, the tick over is normally about 800 rpm but it does depend on the chip in the ECU. What does the idle do when its cold- it should start slightly higher when stone cold then drop? This will prove the stepper is working.
