It seems that my pump or pipes have started to leak like a leaking thing, puddle of oil on the floor
So has any one got any photos of the pump off the car and of the pipe connections ( it's not the U bit)

And is there any nightmares ahead
Thanks gents

The U-bit was leaking a bit on mine, but then after months of this it suddenly emptied its header tank.
John (Engineer 1949) looked at it for me and said it was a 14 year old perished hydraulic pipe that was the problem, the one that leads across from the pump via the U bend to (I think) the plenum to create vacuum presumably. Replacing this pipe has solved the problem.

What kind of photos are you looking for ? In the middle of a body off so have quite a few pics already or can take some easily if you need.

Glad it's come in useful Peter!

Got to say I may curse my new lack of PAS when getting her in the garage but I don't miss the puddles on the floor!

Why dont you convert to AN fittings and make a hose up job done for life then.

Just nip down to your local Pirtek and ask them to make you up a proper crimped "U" pipe to replace the comically bad TVR Jubilee clipped effort.

http://www.pirtek.co.uk/service-centre-locator.asp...

If you've still got the above Jubilee clipped abortion it will leak, and mostly all over the N/S exhaust manifold which at best will create smoke and at worse will result in a fire that could be the end of your TVR.

Get shot of that appalling "U" pipe bodge from TVR & replace it with proper hydraulic crimped ends before its too late.

IIRC it was a pain in the arse to remove. The pulley fouls access to the bolts on the pump and the swirl pot access to the pulley bolts and overall removal. Your pulley bolts may be different, however, mine were rock solid and I didn't fancy rounding the heads off with a spanner. They did come off afterwards with a decent socket… but by that point, it wasn't strictly necessary.

What I did find is that over time, the PAS pump had gradually crept with the bolts in place, which made it very difficult and time consuming getting the bolt out nearest the dizzy as I couldn't get a ratchet on it as it had moved too close to the pump housing. I also wanted to get new bolts, but couldn't find replacements anywhere locally.

I would definitely recommend sealing the U bend if you replace with a new hose. I replaced mine and its still leaking. Some on here have mentioned using PTFE tape. Good luck and happy swearing!

Once the swirl pot is out, you can remove the pump without removing the pulley; however, you will need the pulley off to fully remove the bolts from the holes. If you can manage to remove the pulley in situ, you'll be able to get a socket on the bolts, which will make it quicker. I struggled with spanners! One of those 'this will take me 20 minutes' jobs that results in an entire evening. If you manage to source replacement bolts, let me know where you get them from.

The Jonny Z hoses are indeed good quality, but I still get a leak from top of the U-bend. I'll have to remove this and fit some PTFE/ seal at some point.

Well I reckon Chuffmeister has all the photos sorted. If you need any more just ask.

Funny thing is when I took mine apart, the very original looking TVR set up hadn't leaked a drop. In the 4 years I've had the car before doing the body off I haven't had to even top the fluid up in the slightest...

Will still be changing them over though. Can't beat nice shiny new things biggrin
