Potentially, looks quite interesting however I am not doing enough miles to attempt the longer route! It's where I live.
You'll need a snorkel if you attempt that route today though!
Worth checking the Hilly Hundred too if you like this sort of thing.

Knee arthroscopy on the 7th May so will have to give it a miss until next year, although apparently I will be back in the saddle in 3 months so August, the whole bloody summer wasted...You'll need a snorkel if you attempt that route today though!

Hi Alex
I'm out of this one too. Got hit by a van in Hartley Wintney on Monday, and out with a broken shoulder-blade for '4 to 6 weeks, minimum' according to the medics.
Face down on a roundabout after a brief 'flight' was not how I envisaged spending the better part of three hours. Air Ambulance was out too, due to fears over internal/spinal injuries, although I was transferred by road to FPH in the end, and released after having more than my fair share of scans, blood tests, and X-Rays. I got clobbered about 1430hrs, and was released from A&E (in some very fetching pyjamas) at about 2200hrs. It's taken me 6 days to feel up to logging onto PHs, and the Strava track for my ride went up today too.
Be careful out there, chaps!

Sorry to hear that, i will ask, more importantly how is the bike? Seriously i hope you are feeling better, i have been staying in due to the weather and the fact that the normal lanes just have running water going down them.

Just read you log on Strava 10-20 feet in the air! Let me know if you need anything!

The bike is what I am worried about right now. (I'm as 'ard as fook, like, and bodies usually mend themselves)Just read you log on Strava 10-20 feet in the air! Let me know if you need anything!
Both tyres are flat, and there is a tear in the bar tape. I haven't inspected it properly, but it appears that soft and fleshy ME took the brunt of the impact. I am VERY concerned that the driver's insurance company will refuse to pay up based on the apparent lack of damage, whereas I don't see me being able to have confidence in the structural integrity of the welds or tubes in the frame, nor the carbon fibre forks ever again. I fear that hidden damage could result in a later (and catastrophic) failure of the bike, and I feel that a replacement would be reasonable in the circumstances.
I'm not keen on feeding the 'no win, no fee' sharks, but in this case I'm in no doubt that "compensation is due". Any experience/recommendations of claiming against errant drivers? I want to do this 'right' and not end up out of pocket, if you see what I mean.
It's a shame, as I really liked that bike, and it was a proper "keeper".
What have the police said? Are they looking at driving without due care and attention or whatever it may now be called?
I would expect most bike shops would for a small fee provide a brief engineering report detailing what has happened to the bike and the likely costs to put you back into the same position. I know cycling weekly has a few solicitors/lawyers who specialise in cyclist/car incidents maybe worth a call.
Was the van a one man band or small to large company? Maybe worth speaking to there fleet manager if they have one.
Finally I wouldn't automatically be only worrying about the bike, my mate has broke a shoulder twice and dislocated it a similar number of times due to being knocked off, then again when you have done 4 iron mans you spend a fIr bit if time in the road exposed to cars! Your shoulder could become an issue and you shouldn't rule out any compensation as yet.
Have you got the van drivers insurance details? I bet they would be more worried about potential claims due to a loss of earnings (luckily they knocked you off who doesn't work
). Call them up and see what they say, how much on the cheque will be my guess!

It was my first time up Butser, Harvesting Lane. I'll never forget seeing so many riders walking their bikes up there, and nearly doing so myself but thinking I couldn't live with the failure! lol Right near the end of the course is a sharp climb that is just cruel after 80 odd miles!
I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen much of the Meon Valley and South Downs. I may do it this year, weather permitting.
